I have fallen in love with a new product: Ziploc's Zip & Steam Microwave bags! I love vegetables, but honestly I cannot stand cooking them. My husband can attest to the fact that honestly I don't cook. I just don't like making the effort most of the time. So, after hearing people talk about the zip & steam bags, I just had to give them a shot.
Can we say SIMPLE and easy? Wow! I have cooked potatoes, including sweet potatoes....slice them up, throw them in. Don't need to add any water, it steams in it's own juices. I also steamed artichokes! Whole! I just sliced off the stem where I wanted it, placed it in the bag and microwaved! Now, the issue of a messy snack is still there, but at least cooking it was a snap!
Tonight I went beyond the vegetables. These bags supposedly are also useable for meat, but I haven't tried that yet. No, tonight I tried fruit. We have some Fuji apples from Costco, that I just do not love. Too sweet, I like my apples bitter. Well, I cored/sliced my apple (after I peeled it first)....placed them in the bag for 3 minutes on high. mixed 1 Tbsp. packed brown sugar with cinnamon (1/8 tsp perhaps?) and sprinkled over the apples. I cooked for another 1 to 2 minutes in the bag. Can we say WOW? They are still slightly solid, not completely mushy, and they were simple to throw together! Len ate his with icecream, mmmm. I am sure Calista will enjoy it too when I make them again.
I know, this post is such a commercial, but seriously, these are an amazing tool for someone that is too darned lazy to cook most of the time...it's a wonder my daughter gets fed. :-)
I will post a more informative blog when I get a chance, just not much going on here at home.

You know what? I don't care if it sounds like a commercial. . . those bags sound really easy and simple to use--and hey! I just might give them a try myself!
Thanks for the tip!
